Privacy policy
The Thai Flash app collects no data, and this website counts visits with Google Analytics. Here’s exactly what that means.
In short
The Thai Flash app doesn’t collect any data about you. There’s no account, no ads, no in-app purchases, no analytics and no tracking. Your progress stays on your device. The App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected”. This website is different: it uses Google Analytics to count visits (see This website).
The app
- Your progress stays on your device. Word stats, review schedules, streaks, scores, settings, your own words and any decks you import are saved on your iPhone or iPad. We never receive them.
- No account, no tracking. The app has no sign-up, no ads, no analytics and no third-party tracking code.
- Pronunciation uses the Thai voice built into your device. The listening stories’ recordings come with the app, so playing them sends nothing anywhere.
- The daily reminder, if you turn it on, is a notification scheduled on your device. The app asks for permission to send notifications first.
- Imported files (CSV or JSON decks) are read and saved on your device only.
The optional speaking check
The speaking check is off unless you turn it on. When you use it, the app asks for access to the microphone and speech recognition, and it uses the speech recognition built into your device by its maker (Apple, or Google on Android) to turn what you say into text. On most phones that recognition happens on the maker’s servers, under their privacy terms, not ours. Thai Flash only compares the result with the word on the card; it doesn’t keep or send the audio or the text.
This website
This website uses Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. When you open a page, your browser loads Google’s analytics script, which sets cookies on this site (_ga and _ga_…, kept for up to two years) and sends Google the page you’re on, the page you came from, your browser, device and screen size, your language and an approximate location worked out from your IP address. Google Analytics doesn’t store IP addresses. Google handles this data under its privacy policy.
To opt out, block cookies for this site, use a content blocker, or install Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
Everything else comes from this site: the fonts, images and sounds are served from here. If you pick the light or dark theme, your browser remembers the choice until you close the tab. Like any website, the server that hosts these pages may keep standard request logs (such as IP address, browser and page) for security and reliability. We don’t use them to track you.
Children
The app collects no data from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
